Ventient Energy has completed the acquisition of the Pauvres Wind Farm – a 15MW project in the French region of Ardennes, featuring five Vestas V117 wind turbines.

Ventient Energy now owns and operates 39 windfarms in France, generating around 411MW and contributing to the company’s 2.6GW onshore wind generation capacity across Belgium, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom.

“Our acquisition of the Pauvres Wind Farm represents a further step in our focused and sustainable growth,” said Ventient Energy CEO, Mark Jones. “It reconfirms our commitment to long-term investment in France and to new windfarm investment alongside operational windfarm acquisition.”

“It’s important for us to have the capability to grow through both large and small-scale investment, especially in countries like France and Germany where onshore projects tend to be smaller scale.”

The investment also represents Ventient’s first inorganic growth step in 2021, following the major acquisitions made in 2019 and 2020 that helped Ventient become Europe’s leading onshore European wind group.

The Pauvres acquisition also underlines the company’s commitment to innovative strategic planning and is the first introduction of a new windfarm into the banking facility that was previously structured for the acquisition of assets in Germany and from the Madrid-based renewables specialist, EDPR.

“Our acquisition of Pauvres demonstrates the importance of Environmental Social Governance,” said Mark Jones, “and we’re committed to investing in building long term stakeholder relations at all levels around our business including our fantastic team, our financial, technical and equipment suppliers and the communities we operate in.”
