Our Carbon Emission Targets
If the world is to avert the worst effects of climate change, every business needs to take real, measurable action to cut carbon emissions. At Ventient we’re taking a lead by setting targets grounded in climate science.
With the help of third party audit we have calculated our carbon emissions in 2019, in the normal operation context pre- pandemic, and we have developed reduction target for the entire organisation across Europe.
Our market-based carbon emissions for our benchmark year of 2019: 541.11tCO2 (Including consumption projections of assets acquired during the year. Excluding Scope 3 emissions).
We are starting our target journey committed to reduce our carbon emissions by at least 46% by 2030.
The earlier we achieve our 46% of emissions reduction, the sooner we can reach our final goal of NET ZERO.
Each year we review our performance against the target aiming to accelerate as much as possible the achievement of NET ZERO.
Our strategy to cut emissions focuses on three main initiatives:
- Renewables – ensuring the electricity required to power our wind farms comes from renewable energy resources, so we can eliminate emissions generated by energy consumption at these sites (this accounts for almost 90% of our total emissions)
- Transport – moving our operational car fleet to hybrid vehicles
- Collaboration – engaging with our supply chain on sustainability efforts throughout the entire process of wind energy production to capture our Scope 3 emissions accurately
We’ll report regularly on our progress against the target.
