Andrew Lee was the founding CEO of Velocita Energy, an independent European developer, owner and operator of utility-scale wind energy projects across Europe. Prior to Velocita Energy, Andrew was the Managing Director of Good Energies’ London office and head of its European wind, solar and biomass projects business. Previously, Andrew spent 15 years in investment banking where he advised on and led a wide range of M&A and capital raising transactions. He was a Managing Director and member of the UK Executive Committee of Hambros Bank and also helped found Augusta & Co plc, a boutique investment firm. Andrew holds a Masters degree in Engineering from Cambridge University and qualified as a public auditor before entering investment banking.
Chief Executive Officer
Mark is an experienced energy CEO whose senior roles span across International Energy Investment and Industrial Energy Manufacturing, with a focus on renewable energy and wind in particular. His brief is to lead the next exciting phase of Ventient Energy’s growth through focused expansion, and to ensure that the core UK operations remain the bedrock of the company’s success.
Most recently as group CEO of the Dutch distributed energy turbine manufacturer EWT, Mark successfully led the multi year expansion of the business within the UK, continental Europe and the Americas, as well as the successful creation of the largest distributed solar business in New York state. Earlier in his career he was a senior executive in GE Capital’s Energy division for approaching a decade, where his achievements included establishing and leading the acquisition of wind generation operations and development within Europe, as well as initiating and driving the advance into large-scale energy networks ownership. Prior to this, Mark was a Director at Edison Mission Energy Europe and the HSBC Investment Bank Energy team.
Leanne is the Board Director and Audit Chair for Ventient Energy and Board Director for Southwest Generation. Leanne is an accomplished board member and financial, power and infrastructure expert. Now retired, her career spanned over 35 years as an investment banker, project finance lender, private equity investor, fund founder and CFO.
Leanne currently also serves on the Board and Audit Committee Chair for Nassau Re’s Phoenix Company, a US based life and annuity company. Prior to retirement, Leanne served as CFO for Synergy Renewables, a waste to energy company, co-founded Tiger Infrastructure Partners, formerly Lehman Brothers Global Infrastructure Partners, served as Managing Director at GE Capital Energy financial Services, investing US $6bn in power infrastructure assets, structured project financing’s totalling over $1bn for Prudential Power Funding and provided investment banking services to utilities, whilst at Salomon Brothers. Leanne holds an Economics Degree from Smith College and lives on the Island of Nantucket, MA.
Mark Walters, is an Investment Principal in the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Infrastructure Investments Group (“IIG”), based in London. Mark is primarily responsible for advising institutional clients on infrastructure investment opportunities, having joined the firm in 2009. Mark holds a board position at Värmevärden, in addition to Ventient Energy providing ongoing strategic guidance to the boards and executives within these portfolio companies. Prior to IIG, Mark spent time working with Macquarie Capital’s European Advisory team having started his career at Arthur Andersen, and subsequently Deloitte, practicing as a chartered accountant.
Steen currently serves as a Chairman and Board Member for several Danish unlisted companies, including Chairman of the 110KM Light Rail System of Aarhus, the 2nd largest municipality in Denmark. Steen is a member of the Sustainability Committee and a forer member of the Municipal Board of the City of Aarhus. He also is a Deputy Chairman of the 600+ membership Business Council of the City of Aarhus.
Previously, Steen has held senior executive roles within the wind energy industry, globally since the mid-1990’s, including Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing at listed Danish wind turbine supplier NEG Micon (now Vestas), CEO at global developer, owner and operator Global Renewable Energy Partners (GREP) and Global Head of Wind Energy at listed Allco Finance Group (AFG), global financier, owner and operator of wind farms. Prior to joining the wind industry, Steen was Chief Financial Officer at OMX-CPH listed Schouw & Co., a mid-cap Danish industrial conglomerate.
Steen holds an MBA in International Finance & Marketing from the Aarhus School of Business, Denmark, an INSEAD Certificate in Board Governance and a Board Masterclass Certificate from Copenhagen Business School (CBS).
Mikael was previously the Head of Mergers, Acquisitions and New Markets at Vattenfall AB and served in this role for more than 15 years. His career has covered over SEK 350bn in energy transactions throughout the whole value chain in 10 countries in the Northwest European markets. Mikael is also the Chairman of Värmevärden, one of the largest private District Heating companies in Sweden.
