Chief Executive Officer
Mark is an experienced energy CEO whose senior roles span across International Energy Investment and Industrial Energy Manufacturing, with a focus on renewable energy and wind in particular.
Mark’s brief is to lead the exciting next phase of Ventient Energy’s growth through focused expansion while ensuring our UK operations remain the bedrock of the company’s success.
As Group CEO of the Dutch distributed energy turbine manufacturer EWT, Mark successfully led the expansion of the business within the UK, continental Europe and the Americas, while successfully creating the largest distributed solar business in New York State.
Earlier in his career, Mark was a Director at Edison Mission Energy Europe and the HSBC Investment Bank Energy team before spending almost ten years as a senior executive in GE Capital’s Energy Division where his achievements included establishing and leading the acquisition of wind generation operations and development within Europe, as well as initiating and driving GE Capital’s advance into large-scale energy network ownership.
Chief Operating Officer
Huw has over 25 years’ experience in the energy industry. He spent the first 12 years of his career working in downstream first at Mobil and then BP before moving to work in the renewables sector and the strategic review that led to the launch of BP Alternative Energy in 2005.
Huw then went to work on the operational and commercial side of BP Alternative Energy in Europe & Asia. Since leaving BP at the end of 2010, Huw has worked with private equity backed renewables businesses working with onshore and offshore wind and PV solar.
Huw joined Zephyr Investments, one of the founding companies of Ventient Energy, in 2015 as Managing Director. Following the establishment of Ventient Energy in 2017, Huw became Ventient Energy’s COO, assuming overall responsibility for operational assets. He now leads the Asset Management and Technical teams responsible for improving asset performance as well as managing the UK control centre, Health & Safety & ESG, IT and the Procurement & Commercial team.
Senior management team
Ian was part of the original team that transitioned Infinis Energy’s wind generation portfolio to the stand-alone business that is now Ventient Energy. Ian has a BEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and an MSc in Renewable Energy with Distributed Generation from Heriot-Watt University and is responsible for the Engineering, Control Centre and IT teams at Ventient Energy.
With over 11 years in the wind energy industry, Ian has also held engineering and technical management roles at Senvion and Infinis Energy in both operation and construction functions allowing him to develop a full lifecycle approach to asset operation and performance.
Borja Gari Munsuri
Head of Business Development
Borja has spent over 25 years in renewable energy development, infrastructure and finance work with Barclays, IRIDIUM / ACS, Acciona and Vestas. He has also served as a director of several infrastructure companies in the energy, transportation and social infrastructure sectors.
Borja has been a keen champion of the shift towards sustainable energy sources and is proud and excited to contribute to the growth of one of the largest independent producers in the renewable energy sector. Indeed, he sees wind energy as essential to secure a better quality of life for us all and for the planet as we harness the power of wind to help address the major challenge of climate change.
Head of Legal
Anna has headed up Ventient Energy’s busy legal department since joining from the Energy team at CMS LLP in July 2018. As well as providing governance and company secretarial services and advice to internal stakeholders on all legal, risk, compliance, ESG and regulatory matters, Anna’s team provides legal support for the operational UK portfolio. The rapidly expanding legal team also has a significant focus on UK and international acquisition and the subsequent integration work involved in the ongoing management and development of our portfolio of operational windfarms.
Director of Asset Management
Kevin joined Ventient Energy from Innogy Renewables. He has worked in the Onshore and Offshore wind industry for 19 years, carrying out various roles within the Asset Management and Operations Department from Technician through to his current role as Director of Asset Management. Kevin holds an MSc in Power Asset Management from Liverpool John Moores University and is a fluent Welsh speaker.
