Role purpose

Driving commercial value across the key contracts in the portfolio, focus on the UK portfolio.

Key responsibilities

Contract Negotiations

  • Negotiating agreements to support Ventient’s operational wind farms, in particular, independent agreements aligned to key projects intended to improve the operational performance and/or commercial value of Ventient’s portfolio.
  • Support the Procurement & Commercial Manager in the negotiation of O&M and Power Purchase Agreement (“PPA”) contracts.
  • Together with the Procurement & Commercial Manager, negotiate the procurement of turbine Major Components and sub-components to support Ventient’s portfolio. Ensure the efficient deployment of Framework Agreements for the portfolio, help co-ordinate activities with the Asset Management and Engineering teams to ensure an effective supply of parts to the wind farms.


  • Manage the procurement of Major Component refurbishments, working with the Asset Management and Engineering teams to optimise the repair costs, Mean Time to Repair, and supply chain logistics.
  • Support the Procurement & Commercial Manager to develop and improve internal procurement process.
  • Provide commercial and contractual support to the Asset Management Team.
  • Working with the Procurement & Commercial Manager and the broader Operations team, identify potential areas of Single Point of Failure for the Balance of Plant for Ventient’s wind farms, presenting recommendations on areas of improvement to reduce the risk profile.


  • Support the Procurement & Commercial Manager to provide accurate forecasting of O&M costs.
  • Manage the inventory levels to support Ventient’s portfolio, looking to optimise both supply of parts to Ventient’s wind farms with working capital, identifying areas for improvement and how this aligns with Ventient’s operational strategy. Responsibility includes managing the risk of obsolescence of parts.
  • Review operational spend outside of the main O&M contracts and identify areas for potential improvement for procurement of services from balance of plant contractors.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Provide commercial and contractual support to the Asset Management Team.
  • Develop and grow relationships with key external suppliers to support operational performance.
  • Outside of the wind farms, support the procurement of other key purchases for Ventient, working with the functional teams to ensure the efficient procurement of key items, supported with the appropriate contractual arrangements to protect Ventient.
  • Support the Procurement & Commercial Manager and Asset Management team in any insurance claims, ensuring correct notification of insurers for potential claims, co-ordination of information to support the claim and timely resolution.


Qualifications, training & professional memberships


  • Degree or equivalent


  • Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS)
  • Masters Degree in Business or Supply Chain
Preferred experience


  • Experience of working with the operational side of a wind business, an ability to work with an Asset Management team; close interaction and deliver improved contracts
  • Experience of working on small projects simultaneously
  • Procurement experience which includes establishing new supply chain options for the supply of bespoke parts


  • Experience in procurement in big infrastructure projects is desirable but not a focus
Skills & knowledge


  • Broad commercial understanding
  • Strong financial skills and ability to analyse different contract structures, model fixed and variable costs and understand the impact on the Owners’ working Capital through different commercial solutions


  • Understanding of Power Purchase Agreements (“PPA’s”), the different sources of income and experience of negotiating and implementing new PPA’s in the renewables industry would be an advantage
Competencies & behaviours
  • Good track record of negotiating new maintenance contracts for operational wind farms and securing the best commercial value for the Owners. Ideal candidate will have experience in procuring spare parts for operational wind farms, negotiating new O&M contracts for existing wind farms and new PPA’s
  • Proven capabilities of working with diverse colleagues from varying skillsets, i.e. engineers and delivering solutions that meet the engineering requirements of the business in addition to commercial needs
  • Driven and self-motivated individual
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Clear communicator
