Catarina Miranda Oliveira

Q. How long have you been at Ventient and what made you want to join?

A. I started working at Ventient Energy in April 2022. In addition to having a vast international portfolio with a complex and comprehensive operational database, Ventient Energy had just created an Innovation, Research, and Development team with a key focus on artificial intelligence applied to condition monitoring of wind turbines. My experience in structural monitoring and machine learning models and the beginning of my PhD in these fields led to the opportunity to join the company’s doctoral program, which was integrated into the team as mentioned above.

Q. What’s the most interesting thing you’re working on at Ventient?

A. All the tasks I have been involved in are aligned with the developments of my PhD, so each of them holds a particular interest. Up until now, the most interesting thing, due to being the most challenging, has been the instrumentation of turbines. The complexity of managing teams and resources, the difficulties of the on-site installation itself, and all the associated constraints have made it the most exciting work, considering the early stage of my PhD.

Q. In your time at Ventient, what achievement are you most proud of?

A. The preparation, supervising, and installation of monitoring systems.

Q. What does diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) mean to you?

A. For me, diversity, equity, and inclusion mean welcoming everyone without looking at who they are or where they come from. The meeting and merging of these three words in their application enrich us individually and collectively. The diversity of cultures and experiences, working side by side equally, benefiting from the resulting differences, and including them in our expertise enriches a person. It involves not only personal and social growth but also professional growth.

Q. What’s the best thing about working at Ventient?

A. The people and the care, the constant challenge, and the opportunity to grow.

Q. What does the Ventient Way mean to you?

A. It means working well, in a sustainable and balanced manner. Growing individually and as a team. Challenging oneself and others.

Thanks for sharing, Catarina!
