The 15/Five Project

Performance management at Ventient was historically paper based, administration heavy, and did not support our people – let’s be honest it was not effective. But as Ventient grew exponentially so was the need for a more sophisticated programme that could ultimately be the main driver in creating and fostering high performance and empowering our people to take control of their performance, development, and careers.

A per­for­mance man­age­ment sys­tem should ensure the achieve­ment of over­all organ­i­sa­tion­al goals and ambi­tions while align­ing them with and across teams, and at an individual employ­ee level. In this way, per­for­mance man­age­ment and busi­ness objec­tives entwine with the well­ness and morale of our people.  Performance, development, and careers are not ‘once a year’ events but an ongoing dialogue that creates an atmosphere of trust, support, and encouragement.

Led by Katie Ni Churraoin and Alexandra Leal, the HR team found the solution ‘15/Five’, a performance management tool where you can: provide ‘360’ information, record organisation, team and individual objectives, conduct ongoing ‘check ins’ with line managers and direct reports, give ‘High 5s’ to your peers, request feedback, complete engagement surveys and manage the year end performance process.

Implemented in 2021, 15/Five is successfully being used to motivate, support career progression, encourage and drive learning and development whilst creating a transparent approach to performance and recognition through peer to peer ‘high 5s’.  Some of the immediate advantages for the business have been in its ease of use, access, and efficiency; allowing administrative time to be cut significantly. It has also offered a consistent method across all the countries Ventient operates in, ensuring a uniform approach to performance.
